Google
Analytics would be the most popular choice and
yet alot of people find this as being an optional
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactic. This is
often used to track activity on your site as well
as particular pages within your site. Using Anaytics
allows you to view how many people are visiting
your website, where they are coming from, how long
they stay on your site and much more which allows
you to optimize your keyowrds and optimization techniques
accordingly in order to make them more effective.
If Search engine optimization was like a baloon
ride, Analytics is your navigation system. Without
a navigation system, you are at the mercy of the
wind. Without Analytics, you at the mercy of chance
and probability. You wil never know what need to
be optimized when things are not going so well nor
how to regulate your website submissions when certain
sites are not bringin in traffic. This is because
Analytics will also show you which sites your visitors
are coming from.
The
idea is to take your analytics code and place it
on every single page of your website. This should
be done on every page because search engine results
and referrals will often lead people to a specific
page rather than the front page of your site. If
you only place the code on the front page (home
page) then you will only be tracking information
pertaining to those whom land on that page. Plus
once they begin browsing through your website, you
will never know about it if the code is only on
the home index page.
